See past issues and much more. 2 SSM is a Proud Member PUBLISHER'S LETTER Welcome, everyone, to the Indian summer edition of South Shore Magazine. Shortly, we will be onto Autumn which is a wonderful season here in New England, and specifically the south shore. We are lucky to have so many festivals, fairs and outdoor activities to enjoy and take in before the few months of winter set in. We have a great issue here for you to enjoy and learn about some of the great locally owned and operated businesses here on the South Shore. It is so important to make a conscious decision to utilize these local businesses, as the benefits resonate throughout our communities—from the obvious benefits of jobs and local taxes to businesses donations and support for community groups and those in need. Our cover and feature article is on Pearl Dental Associates. With locations in Holbrook and Scituate, Dr. Teresa Salem has incorporated cutting edge technology in her offices to streamline the processes of today's modern dentistry. Her locations are welcoming and state of the art; if you are in need of dental services, check them out and give them a try. The South Shore is bustling with new housing options: almost every town in our distribution area has some type of large scale housing project going on from single family, to condos and multi-unit apartment complexes that serve our ever- changing housing demographic. We have a great feature on the newest addition to The Hingham Shipyard: Avalon Residences at the Hingham Shipyard. This property joins the Avalon community built several years ago with a vast array of floor plans and amenities, and incredibly convenient access to Boston via the Hingham Commuter Boats or MBTA commuter rail services. South Shore Bank has been an integral part of the banking and business community here on the south shore with its original roots back to 1833. South Shore Bank recently acquired and merged with Braintree Cooperative Bank, which has been part of our northern South Shore communities since 1887. These two great financial institutions were some of the state's oldest local banks and have joined forces to better serve the banking and financial needs of the South Shore. Check out the follow-up article to our cover and feature article in our last issue about Road to Responsibility celebrating 30 years serving the special needs community. Sleep apnea is a very common and dangerous condition if left undiagnosed or ignored. Dr. Daniela Sever has focused her practice, knowledge and training exclusively on this medical condition. Her sparkling new office is located on Main St. in South Weymouth directly across from South Shore Hospital. Dr. Christine Hamori's article in this issue focuses on skin damage and some new skin care methods called VISIA ® and DEFENAGE ® . Dr. Hamori is consistently on the forefront of technologies to better serve the needs of her practice's patients. As always, thank you for reading our magazine in print and digitally at w w w. t h e s o u t h s h o r e m a g a z i n e . c o m .
