30 Williams Energy offers a holistic approach to energy delivery and energy services. Besides the energy delivery aspect, their energy services include heating system installation and repair, water heater replacement, heat pumps and air conditioning systems. Increasingly, much of their value proposition to customers focuses on energy efficiency upgrades and offering alternative, environmentally friendly approaches to home comfort. General Manager Gavin Williams takes pride in developing relationships with both customers and employees. He joined Williams Energy in 2012, after working within the Federal Government at the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission in Washington D.C. He moved to China after college to learn Mandarin Chinese and teach English but, ultimately, his passion for business brought him back to the United States and to Williams Energy. "I've talked business with my dad my whole life," he says. "I've always found it fun and interesting." He studied business administration at Marymount University and recently earned his MBA from Boston University. His favorite part of the job is meeting with customers. "I enjoy talking with them about new systems that will meet their needs while also trying to improve their environmental footprint." Staying on top of energy efficiency and conservation is a big part of Williams Energy's business. "We have to work together and look at how our region responds to climate change," says Gavin. "Global and local greenhouse gas emissions affect us, our families, our health. As a local energy company, we can improve our local region's emissions by discussing energy efficiency in everything we do." Installing high efficiency HVAC equipment, using solar water heaters and creating heat zones are all ways that people have cut the costs of heating their homes, but Williams Energy believes that's just the tip of the conservation iceberg. "Power plants are looking at solar farms and wind power. In Massachusetts, numerous cities and towns have voted to be off gas and oil in the near future. In 30 years, homes may be heated by a solar box. We can have an impact on our area and clean it up." While some may doubt our society's ability to effect change, Brian is optimistic about the future of cleaner power: "You have to believe in humanity. Otherwise, how can you be in business today?" As a kid, Brian remembers climbing over the lumber piles at 39 Adams Street. "There were 250 chickens, stacks of lumber and large piles of coal and I would drive the trucks around the property by age 12." His office was once the family home that hosted extended family gatherings. Amid this great legacy, Brian has always been a modern thinker. He has an uncanny ability to look outside himself and the present trends to see what society's needs will be down the road. His foresight make Williams Energy incredibly adaptive to change—even change that hasn't happened yet. But one aspect that never changes for the company is its loyalty to customers. "We sell trust," says Brian. "If you respect people, they will respect you, as well. We want to be the people you call for service; to install the new energy efficiency heating system or hot water tank; to unclog a sink or fix a furnace in the winter time so that your family isn't freezing." Everyone needs services and Williams Energy is proud to be a home energy delivery and energy service provider for innumerable families on the South Shore. 39 Adams Street, Braintree 717 Plain Street, Marshfield 781.843.0415 mywilliamsenergy.com Williams recently donated an oil truck to Massasoit Community College's Diesel Technology Program at the school's Canton campus.
