The parking lot is packed and customers are gathered inside buying the best available meats, poultry, veal, specialty items and groceries, planning custom catering or enjoying made to order sandwiches in the cafe area. Customers are thrilled to hear that they are adding a new location on Columbia Street in Hanover. The additional space means there will be more of Previte's to love. Previte's is a family business owned by Joe Previte, Jr., whose parents started the business in Quincy in 1963. In 2007, Previte's moved to its Weymouth location where Joe Jr. continued the family passion for top-quality food and cooking with heart. He received his culinary degree from Johnson and Wales University, and his son, Joe III, is following in his footsteps, attending Johnson and Wales' culinary program, as well. "Our customers appreciate being able to visit a butcher shop where they can not only buy the freshest meat, but get cooking tips, recipe ideas and recommendations on how to best prepare it," says Joe III. The new location in Hanover was a rail yard in the 1800s and has been deemed a historic site. "Restoration of this special site has been a hallmark of the project," says Joe III. "We have put a lot of time into preserving its roots." The two-story building has a barn feel, complete with post and beam, natural woods and New England style. In addition to an indoor cafe area, the new marketplace will have two glass garage doors that open up to a beautiful outdoor seating space. Inspired by the Old World Markets of Europe, Previte's in Hanover will highlight open sight lines and voluminous ceiling heights, and an ambiance that makes people want to stay. "We are grateful for our customers and want them to feel welcome," says Joe III. "We have always had a neighborhood feel. People come in to say hi to us and see what we're making that day. Customers are always running into someone they know and then chatting with each other in the store. There's a warm vibe." The Hanover location will offer all the same services as Previte's in Weymouth: a market complete with an upscale butcher shop, deli and grocery selections, prepared foods made on site and a full- service catering department. The new, expanded space will allow them to offer even more: "Among other things, we will have a local fish vendor, a local gelato vendor and wine and beer," says Joe III. "We can't wait to open and show everyone what the new location is all about. The Town of Hanover and our customers have all been so good to us in supporting this endeavor." Previte's feels lucky to have been doing business on the South Shore for almost 60 years. Many of their employees have been with them for 10 to 20 years; and one cashier has been with them for 40 years. There is a special loyalty between its workers, its customers and the community. "My Dad taught me to help people in any way you can," says Joe III. "If we see a need or our community faces a crisis, we reach out with food and with support. We have the best customers in the world who support us, as well." The new Hanover location on Columbia Road is going to be a stunning place with everything people already love about Previte's, along with many new and exciting amenities. Previte's is thrilled to be able to offer its first-rate service, meats and specialty foods on a larger scale. "We're into quality and good value," says Joe III. "We don't sell anything we wouldn't bring home to our own family."
