See past issues and much more. 2 SSM is a Proud Member PUBLISHER'S LETTER January 2020 marked a giant milestone for us here at The South Shore Magazine, as we are now surpassing our 20 year mark and continuing our journey to a promising future. I personally started The South Shore Magazine in January 2000, along with Charles River Magazine which is no longer published. The South Shore Magazine has been in business for longer than any other publication in the area. The South Shore is where my roots are and where my heart is. My family, my colleagues, my friends and clients—many who have become friends—also call the South Shore their home. Thank you to everyone who has shown encouragement and support, and who has been part of the team for the first 20 years! I can't express enough gratitude to my family, Mary Ann, Kevin and Caleb, and to my longtime friend and Art Director Christine Orr. Christine has been more than instrumental in the last 15 years! Huge shout out to George Toma of George Washington Toma TV and Appliance, whom I have had the pleasure of knowing in business and in friendship for over 23 years. George Washington Toma TV and Appliance is our longest running advertiser: THANK YOU!!! This issue's cover and feature is on a very special organization I just can't say enough positive things about: Road to Responsibility. Their motto is "Making Lives Better" and that is what they do on so many levels and platforms. Under the direction of CEO Chris White, Chairman of the Board George Ford and so many others, this organization is a true gem on the South Shore and beyond. We also feature the incredible accomplish- ments of Charlene Flynn of TLC Real Estate and her success at being the number one real estate agent on the South Shore in 2019 based on dollar volume. As a realtor myself, I know that is no easy feat. With real estate's Spring market about to heat up, I wrote an article on getting your house prepared for sale and received wonderful ideas and input from Diana Aveni of Hingham Furniture and Design and Framing Concepts. If you are thinking of putting your home on the market, read the helpful tips in this article give me a call! In "Our Community," we have wonderful articles on South Shore Bank's amazing sponsorship of Cardinal Cushing Centers' annual "Trip of a Lifetime" to Walt Disney World for their graduating students. We also have a greatly insightful article on the Culinary Arts program at Massasoit Community College in Brockton. We hope this will be part of a series showcasing the many programs at Massasoit. Health and Wellness has a feature on Dr. Christine Hamori and her Duxbury practice's fantastic new expansion, and Glow Beauty Boutique in Braintree tells us about their effective and advanced beauty services. Thank you to readers, clients, friends and family for your support and PLEASE make sure to tell the featured clients and advertisers that you saw them in South Shore Magazine. Here's to 20 years and beyond! THANK YOU! Greetings to you all!
