See past issues and much more. 2 SSM is a Proud Member PUBLISHER'S LETTER The Grateful Dead quote from many, many years ago, "What a long strange trip it's been," pretty much sums up 2020 so far. Tom Brady and Gronk to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Saint Patrick's Day cancelled in one week— who'd have thought it could get any worse? Well, of course we know it has and did it ever! COVID-19, shutdown, social distancing, N95 masks, PPE and PPP were all unfamiliar terms just a short time ago, but now they roll off our tongues daily. The shutdown of the economy and the coronavirus have changed our lives forever. Frontline workers from so many areas have worked endlessly and tirelessly to keep us safe, healthy and fed! Uncertainty is my biggest fear and it has certainly shown itself with a vengeance over the past few months. First and foremost, we as a society can beat this by being vigilant about wearing masks, keeping surfaces clean, washing our hands and social distancing. Second, I would like to thank our existing and new clients for believing in South Shore Magazine as we plow forward into our 20th year of publication. Many of our businesses, such as restaurants, bars and large area venues, have been really hurt by the shutdown. Now more than ever it is important to shop and do business with local companies. I have advocated for this for 20 years in South Shore Magazine and it means so much right now. PLEASE make the effort. Even the smallest transactions make a meaningful difference. Big news for the area is that The Residence at Penniman Hill will be opening soon. This is a stunning space for our elderly population. Congratulations to everyone who made The Residence at Penniman Hill such a spectacular project. We also have some other wonderful building projects featured in this issue, such as the breathtaking Seascape in Weymouth: experience the ocean breezes and, in my opinion, some of the best views of the South Shore at this sparkling new building. We also have a great article about MASS Architect, LLC and their exquisite, client- focused work. Hingham Furniture and Design/Framing Concepts continues their article series, sharing how art, framing and mirrors make a significant difference in your home's aesthetic appeal; and Paragon Landscape Construction gives us exceptional ideas on landscape and hardscape improvements. Forty-three years into the radio broadcasting business, 95.9 FM WATD expands their listening portfolio by adding two new stations. Check out what genres of music, news and entertainment can be found on these exciting new airwaves and internet broadcasts. South Shore Bank's article this quarter shows how this true community bank has gone above and beyond to help businesses and individuals in a time of true need. Lastly, our friends at Road to Responsibility are up for a HUGE challenge as they will be hosting their first virtual gala and fundraiser. Please keep them and other non-profits in your thoughts and in your checkbooks as they try to raise essential monies for their fine organizations. Thank you to all of our clients and readers for your support since 2000! We are proud to be The South Shore's Magazine. Warmest regards, Greetings to you all!
