32 In 2004, with the intention of providing quality, individualized care for the people in their communities, Julie Wyper and Kris San Antonio opened Hingham Physical Therapy on route 3A in Hingham. Their dedication and focus have made their endeavor an incredible success. They have helped innumerable patients heal from a variety of issues, and the practice has expanded to two other locations: East Bridgewater in the Compass Medical Building, on Route 18 and Boston's South End at 495 Columbus Avenue. Hingham Physical Therapy's expertise includes post- surgical care, sports injuries, back and neck pain, vertigo, concussions, women's health and more. "Because we are not only business owners, but also physical therapists ourselves, we have a firsthand perspective of what our patients need and how our practice can best provide it," says Julie. "When Kris and I opened Hingham Physical Therapy, we wanted to make sure we offered one on one care. We wanted a personal experience where our therapists focus on patients one at a time. People who walk through our doors get undivided attention, which makes them heal more quickly. The patient is happy, their doctor is happy and we're happy." Julie and Kris have impressive resumes of uncommon breadth and depth. Julie received her physical therapy degree from the University of New England in Maine and then worked at a San Diego hospital and rehab performing inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for people with acute injuries, neurological conditions and traumatic brain injuries. Kris received her degree at Texas Women's University and began her career as a traveling physical therapist working in inpatient rehab and acute care hospitals, and she held an extended position at the Texas Children's Hospitals in Dallas. Both have practiced wound care, vertigo sensory retraining, home health care and sports injury rehabilitation. They have a true passion for what they do: "We love helping our patients get back to living life without pain or limitations." Hingham Physical Therapy's whole staff is second to none. "When we hire therapists, we make sure that they are skilled at hands-on treatment," says Julie. "Our therapists all take a holistic approach to treatment, combining manual techniques with strengthening, balance and any modalities needed. We also make sure to hire staff members who are compassionate and understanding of each individual's situation. It is crucial that patients receive compassion and are made to feel as comfortable as possible during a tough time. Our front desk staff is also outstanding and willing to help with whatever the patients need, from insurance authorization and benefits to scheduling appointments and communicating with the physicians. Hingham Physical Therapy regularly receives glowing testimonials from happy customers, including one that says, "Don't accept anyone else for women's health issues!" Kris and Julie are thrilled to have recently invested in a new treatment for incontinence called BTL Emsella ™ , which is a chair that can strengthen the pelvic floor muscles while the patient remains fully-clothed. The chair provides entirely non-invasive electromagnetic stimulation of pelvic floor musculature for the purpose of rehabilitation of weak muscles and restoration of neuromuscular control for the treatment of urinary incontinence. "Anyone is welcome to come in and try it," says Julie. "You don't have to live with those issues; we have therapy that works."
