TheSouthShoreMagazine.com 7 By Erica Ford Artist, designer, furniture maker, Master Framer and author Diana Cousineau Aveni is an expert at getting homes to look their best, especially when it comes to one of the most challenging aspects of decorating: wall art and mirrors. For 20 years, Aveni and her design team at Hingham Furniture & Design, home of Framing Concepts have been providing style consultations and crafting personalized furniture and fine art to suit anyone's taste and space. Aveni is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and is a Master Custom Framer. Bringing her visions to life has always come easily to Aveni: growing up, her father encouraged Aveni's art and creativity, which took the forms of oil painting, wood carving, sewing, cooking and playing cello, among other things. After studying art history and completing many advanced courses, Aveni challenged herself to perfect the art of framing grand-scale mirrors. "I thought outside the box and managed to frame impossibly large mirrors, artwork, canvases, and wall art, and I work with builders, designers, and clients to move them into design-homes," she says. In 2003, she opened a studio in Plymouth where she sold her own art and also offered custom framing services. She expanded to Hingham, and eventually moved into her current location at 44 North Street in Hingham. The North Street building that houses Hingham Furniture & Design was moved to Hingham from Baker's Island, off Salem, in the early 1700s. When Aveni bought it in 2015, she immediately began restoring the historic home. She removed the faux veneers to expose the brick and fireplaces behind them; took out the The Talent Behind Hingham Furniture & Design
