The Hingham Shipyard, formerly known as The Bethlehem Shipyard, has a quiet yet esteemed legacy. Earning the Army Navy Excellence Award during World War II for the stalwart effort by 15,000 (2,500 of whom were women) ironworkers, shipbuilders, and engineers, this shipyard would crank out 227 ships in just three and half years, more than any other shipyard in the nation. Awarded for quality and quantity in production, the overcoming of adversity and obstacles and little to no work stoppage, this fundamental work ethic is at the core of The Briar Group's concept. Born out of a connection to family, community, with pride and excellence in product and service, The Beth is a deep tip of the hat to the drive and determination of that dedicated workforce which became an integral part in the turning of the tide of World War II in the Allied favor. Flying out of the kitchen are the Ahi Tuna and Salmon Poke Nachos and with good reason. The freshly diced tuna and salmon with avocado, wakeme, unagi sauce and shisho aioli over crisp wonton chips are a delight. Looking for local oysters? The search ends here with locally sourced oysters in a cucumber mignonette and a smoky (or traditional) cocktail sauce. If the local factor is appealing, go straight to the Local Burrata; creamy burrata with fresh basil pesto, sliced sun-dried tomatoes and microgreens served over crostini. From handhelds to bone-in ribeye steaks, there are delectable options for everyone, young and beyond. As the maestro of the kitchen, Chef Jim readily admits 'running the line' is more than just everyone doing their part.
