Chris' award outlined his dedication to RTR's mission and its staff, along with his caring and appreciative leadership qualities. White said, "I was both surprised and humbled by this award. I am blessed to work with amazing people at every level and anything we accomplish here is a result of teamwork and shared commitment to the people we serve and our overall Mission!" RTR believes strongly in dignity and humanity of every person. Often, RTR serves individuals who have been turned away from other organizations due to the severity of their disabilities. RTR's strengths lie in its ability to meet the needs of every individual through a clinical approach and wrap around services, which meet the individual where they are in their lives. This approach has proven to be extremely successful, and has helped RTR truly be a leader in serving the needs of everyone who walks through their door. "We serve people who are very challenging and they are the people we love the best," says White. At the June 22nd ceremony in Hyannis, RTR's President/CEO, Chris White, was presented the award. White said, "Creating an environment and culture where employees feel heard and valued has always been a priority and it's gratifying to know that we are achieving that goal." SPECIAL OLYMPICS BACK IN FULL SWING RTR was thrilled to have a Special Olympics softball team this summer! The team worked hard all season continuously getting better and better as the season progressed. The team was "tenacious in every game and fought till the end", according to head coach, Tim Charron. During the tournament, weather conditions were blistering hot, but the team played hard and advanced to the final round. Unfortunately, they fell short losing 10-9 against the Scituate team, but they were thrilled to receive the bronze medal! Shout out to RTR's coaches, Head Coach: Tim Charron, Assistant Coaches: Jennifer Rabbit and Donna Charron. The team is already looking forward to next season which should be much improved as this was the first year playing on the team. It was a learning experience and fun for everyone! FALMOUTH ROAD RACE TEAM RAISES $15,000 For the 5th year, Road to Responsibility received ten bib numbers for the Falmouth Road Race, a seven-mile road race through Falmouth featuring more than 11,000 runners. Elite runners from around the world compete in this race but it is, at its core, a fun run and an inspirational fundraising opportunity. Collectively Team RTR raised more than $15,000! MAKING LIVES BETTER GALA After 3 long years RTR welcomed guests back in person for this year's "Better Together" Making Lives Better Gala. The event was held on Thursday, September 15th at the Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, with breathtaking views of the Boston skyline. They had a sold-out crowd hosted by Massachusetts beloved radio broadcaster, Candy O'Terry, with a featured story of Ben Endyke, live entertainment, a dessert reception, raffle prizes, and so much camaraderie. Together, with support from friends of the organization, community members, and generous sponsors, RTR raised over $400,000 of much needed funds to support their mission of Making Lives Better for adults with disabilities! In his story Ben Endyke shared how his life and his family's life have been positively impacted by the services RTR offers, and especially by their staff member, Andrew.
