Support Harbor Media As a nonprofit corporation, Harbor Media is funded by federally restricted resources provided by cable providers. With many people opting out of traditional cable service and turning to streaming for entertainment, community media programs need your help in ensuring funding continues. There is currently a bill in the House that will mandate streaming services provide the same fees to communities across the state that cable providers are federally required to, and this is critical for the survival of community media. Contact your local State Representative to find out how you can support this bill which aims to do just that. Harbor Media services are available at no cost to all residents of Hingham and Norwell, and to help fund these pivotal programs, they have expanded offerings to include low-cost video services available to any person or business (even outside of these towns) needing video content. Not only are they able to provide quality production but choosing them for your business's next marketing project supports continued growth and development of these programs. Just some of the organizations who have used Harbor Media for production include the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), AW Perry, CareAccess, South Shore Conservatory, North South River Watershed Association, Old Colony Montessori and many more. Harbor Media also sells beautiful, framed canvas drone images of Hingham and Norwell – perfect for decorating your home of office. Bring Your Idea to Life Your local channel features public, education and government programming from within your community. Education and government coverage may include anything from the latest planning board session or school committee meeting to school interviews, events and more. Public programming can be about anything with ties to the community – cooking tutorials, deep dives into town history and even nature walks with your very own neighbors. With contributions from a former PBS producer, public programming is creative, thoughtful and expertly curated. Do you have story? Do you want to shine a light on something? Maybe there is a historic building you have always admired or a local figure (past or present) that you want to highlight. Maybe you have an index of unique recipes passed down from your ancestors that you are proud of. Whatever it is, capture, create, share! Remember, every town has community media funding, so contact your local civic offices to find out what resources are available in your town. To learn more, visit harbormedia.org.
