TheSouthShoreMagazine.com Recently, a donor provided funds for the Special Olympics Softball Team to get new uniforms, replacing their nearly 10-year-old uniforms that had numbers peeling off and buttoned up the front, which was difficult for some Members. These types of donations make all the difference in supporting RTR's mission. Without the philanthropic efforts of citizens like you, Members would not have the opportunities and quality of life that RTR strives to provide year after year. "State funding allows our Members to survive, but private philanthropy allows them to thrive," explains Chris White, RTR's President/CEO. Philanthropic contributions are not limited to monetary donations. RTR relies on partnerships with local businesses to volunteer, engage with and provide opportunities for its Members. From beautifying residential programs and helping with the vegetable gardens every spring to hosting financial classes, resume and interview coaching, and much more. These are just examples of the many ways those they serve benefit from key relationships with partners in the community. RTR's Empowering Dreams, Igniting Possibilities campaign created the seed money to start an Endowment Fund, providing long-term stability to the organization. From providing new services and technologies to personnel development and critical response abilities, the endowment is the foundation for RTR's future. But there are everyday needs that can only be met through continued fundraising and the generous donations of community members. 25
