13 TheSouthShoreMagazine.com gas work, Mike has trusted partners at the ready. "We try to make the process as simple as possible for the customer," he adds. "There's nothing worse than going somewhere and they say, 'Now you've got to call the plumber, now you've got to call the electrician.' We'll take care of it for you." For those who prefer wood, the store also offers Vermont Castings stoves and inserts. Electric inserts are available to fill the void for customers who want both warmth and ambience but not gas. Gas logs remain a budget- friendly, atmosphere-first option at about half the cost, but Mike is candid that they require a tight-fitting fireplace door to prevent heat loss up the flue. The Fireplace Store also supplies custom doors through Stoll Industries in all kinds of styles and colors and sizes, as well as mantels and manufacturer stone kits that finish a unit with a tailored, built-in look. Stoll also unlocked an unexpected growth area: outdoor fireplaces and kitchens. Covid-era demand for backyard living nudged the business to add durable, weather- ready outdoor kitchen cabinetry. "We expanded on that line as well," Mike says. They now offer many different styles and options to choose from. The customer journey usually starts in the Marshfield showroom. "They tell me what they want, what they like, what they don't like, and I give them some rough ideas of pricing," Mike says. If it feels right, he schedules a home visit to check measurements, venting, roof access and gas routing. "It's a pretty quick visit— most of the time it's about a 15-minute visit," he says. From order to installation, it is about a four to six-week lead time, sometimes even quicker depending on what needs to be done. Service doesn't stop after install. "We do service gas fireplaces as well," Mike notes. "The manufacturer recommends once a year." Treat it like a furnace or boiler and on average, a gas fireplace will last 15 to 20 years as long as it's maintained properly. Even as the business grows, the personal, family-owned approach remains. Mike's son is now joining in by handling photography, the new website and managing the store's social media channels. "He just took all the pictures for this article," Mike says proudly. The point of the content is the same as the point of the showroom: to help people feel comfortable asking questions. Follow them on Instagram at @aspinwallfireplaces. The Fireplace Store is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and walk-ins are welcome. As the cooler months approach, Mike's advice is simple—don't wait. "If a gas fireplace has been on your wish list for this winter, you still have time, but call soon," he says. And when you do, expect a team that handles the details, stands behind the products and values the kind of long-term, local reputation the Mazzini family has built since 1972. As Mike puts it, "We want people to come in, get excited, and be even more excited when they're at home using it." 2105 Ocean Street, Marshfield / 617.845.5750 aspinwallfireplaces.com / mike@thefireplacestore.net
