"In order to promote longevity, you have to see the whole picture," she says. That picture often includes factors that extend well beyond traditional medical concerns. Nutrition, exercise habits, stress, family history, work demands and lifestyle choices can all influence long-term health outcomes. "You have to see the nutrition, you have to see the socioeconomic situation, what we call the social determinants of health. All that contributes to patient health." Dr. Vincent has developed particular expertise in weight management, chronic disease prevention, cardiovascular health, diabetes, hypertension and women's health. In 2023, she became board certified in obesity medicine and remains actively involved in staying current with the latest evidence-based research and treatment options. Her approach is highly individualized. "We work with the person holistically," she explains. "We talk about diet. We talk about exercise. We talk about their efforts. We also look at genetics. There are a lot of contributors to health, not just one thing." While she frequently works with patients navigating weight management challenges, menopause and chronic conditions, Dr. Vincent emphasizes that her practice provides comprehensive primary care for adults of all ages. LISTENING FIRST Throughout her career, Dr. Vincent has found that some of the most meaningful moments in medicine begin with listening. Patients often arrive carrying concerns they may have struggled with for months or even years. Many worry about being judged, dismissed or rushed through an appointment. DR. VINCENT STRIVES TO CREATE A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE "My theory when I listen to the person is to put yourself in that person's shoes and understand where they're coming from," she says. "There's no judgment here." She views healthcare as a partnership, with physician and patient working together to create a realistic and effective plan for better health. "I bring the medical information, they're bringing their story, and then we make a plan together." That collaborative philosophy has helped Dr. Vincent build strong relationships throughout her career and remains at the heart of her new practice. 21 TheSouthShoreMagazine.com
