16 The ReStore in Carver is more than just a secondhand store. This Habitat for Humanity enterprise is open to the public and helps fund the building of affordable housing in our region. The ReStore's Manager, Melissa Boynton, sat down with us to answer some common questions we get about the store: How does the ReStore contribute to Habitat for Humanity's mission of building affordable homes in the Greater Plymouth area? After operating expenses, the entire sum of our profit goes right back into the HFH budget used to build affordable homes for families. Can you tell us about the variety of items available at the ReStore? What are some of the most popular categories? We carry a wide range of household items. Upholstered furniture and appliances move quickly. We also have lighting, dining sets, doors and windows, cabinets, housewares, paint (new) and more. We offer free removal of cabinets for those doing remodels, and some shoppers come by for DIY project pieces. How frequently does the inventory change, and what impact does this have on shoppers? Our inventory is constantly changing as donations come in daily. We offer our FREE pick-up services three-to-four times a week and have frequent "surprise" drop offs. Our store is like a box of chocolates—you never know what you will get! Customers should stop in frequently to make sure they don't miss their next treasure. What steps do you take to ensure the quality and safety of the items sold at the ReStore? Great question. All our donations are pre-approved either in person at drop off or in advance via emailed photos. We do not accept any item that has excessive stains, tears or scratches. It is important to us that we keep the store full of clean, high-quality and diverse items. What can shoppers expect in terms of customer service and assistance when they visit the ReStore? SUPPORT THE STORE THAT BUILDS HOMES 10am - 4pm This paper is 100% Post-Consumer Waste, FSC Certified, GreenE/Windpower Certified We strive to offer the highest level of customer service. Each employee or volunteer is trained to greet customers in a timely and friendly manner and taught how to measure and record measurements of prospective purchases. Customers can expect to be helped to their car with their purchases no matter how large. How can members of the community get involved with the ReStore? People can get involved by donating to the ReStore or volunteering in our store. Each donation brings us further to our goal of building and rehabbing more affordable homes in our community. Volunteering provides additional invaluable support to the store and, ultimately, our mission. And spread the word —tell your friends and family to stop in and see us! How have you seen the ReStore make a difference in the lives of individuals and families in the Greater Plymouth area? Folks are able to furnish their homes with clean, gently used items at a fraction of the cost of new. We also provide a home for their loved ones' estate contents. Many consumers today want to reduce their environmental footprint and are looking for reuse purchase options and ways to give their decent items a second life. We can help them do both. We take as much as we can re-sell and offer FREE pickup services. We are also completing a home for a veteran and her four children in Carver. What is the process to donate items to the ReStore? All items donated to the ReStore must be pre-approved before pickup or drop-off. For larger or multiple items, we request photos and a listing of items that they wish to be picked up. The email for that is restore@hfhplymouth.org. If folks are looking to rehome smaller items, we ask that they bring them during business hours (see below). ReStore CARVER, 160 N. Main Street Store Hours: Tuesday 10am - 4pm Wednesday & Thursday 10am - 6pm Friday & Saturday 10am - 4pm hghplymouth.org/restore
