Grand Cru Selections to bring "Holiday by Stanley Blackmur Marsh's Wine and Spirits recently held their Grand Cru Tasting at their spectacular store in Norwell. Wine and Spirits tastings are a common event each week at Marsh's. However, several times per year larger events take place in the basement allowing a larger crowd and a broader selection of product for tastings. At the time of you reading this article the memory of Thanksgiving is in the recent past, visions of Christmas, Hanukah, New Year's Eve and stops on the holiday party circuit are now on your radar. How to plan for your event or what to bring to a holiday party are questions that daunt us all during this joyful but hectic season. The staff at Marsh's Wine and Spirits is always helpful with wine selections and offers one of the region's most diverse wine selections. For easy gift giving ideas the spirit companies always have some great gift box sets with fun accompaniments to go with the liquor of choice. As is always is the case at the larger wine tastings at Marsh's, there is a great spectrum of wines in varietals and price points, and always a spirit or two to sample. What would the holidays be with our Champagne or a Marsh's favorite—and truthfully a favorite at our house—Prosecco! Pol Roger Brut Champagne was a popular bottle at the Frederick 24 Spirit" to your gathering Wildman table, Mionetto Prosecco Lux was a crowd pleaser at the Mionetto table. Chianti's are always a welcome addition to any gathering the 2009 Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva is a great value at $19.99. For the more traditional varietals, Majestic Fine Wines had a wonderful 2011 Hartford Court Chardonnay "4 Hearts" well balanced and a nice addition at $39.99, Majestic also had a great Sauvignon Blanc: 2011 Matanzas Creek at $19.99. I have heard that Stephen Marsh has a warm place in his heart for the "Cab Savs" and there certainly were plenty to choose from. MS Walker was serving up the very popular 2009 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon at $55.00 and the 2009 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet Savignon is a savory choice at $115.00. Saint Michelle Wine Estates certainly did not disappoint in the "Cab Sav" department and they had a couple of Stag's Leap selections to which we touched on a bit about this vintner in our last article. These are top-notch wines and come at a pretty hefty price point, however this is the holiday season and if you want a truly fine wine to pair with your meal, Stag's has got you covered. Two offerings truly stood out at the St. Michelle table. First was the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars 2010 Fay Cabernet Savignon
