25 Clients looking at the reception wall at Foreign MotorWorks, Inc. on 3A in Quincy often ask Stan, "With your advanced degrees, why do you fix cars?" The simple answer to the question is … because he loves resolving problems and maintaining automobiles so they continue to operate the way they were designed. He welcomes difficult problems on cars and the challenges they present. He wanted a career doing what he loved. For Stan Vozzella, owner of Foreign MotorWorks, Mercedes-Benz automotive repair had always been a passion and he set out on a path to make it his life's work. Foreign MotorWorks is a family business located at 678 Southern Artery in Quincy and is owned and operated by Stan Vozzella and his wife Lynne. Foreign MotorWorks offers all of the expertise of a dealership with all of the convenience of an independent repair shop. Every customer has the opportunity to speak with the master technician working on their vehicle so that problems are correctly diagnosed and dealt with in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You don't have to sacrifice personal service for expertise at Foreign MotorWorks and you'll enjoy the benefit of both. Foreign MotorWorks opened its doors in Quincy in December of 2008. The new location is only a few short minutes away, at 678 Southern Artery. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with the Mayor of Quincy, representatives from the Quincy Chamber of Commerce and many of FMW's regular clients on February 11th. The business had outgrown the original location and the Vozzellas needed more space. The new location features space for 6 lifts and is about 4,000 square feet with an air conditioned shop. A Mercedes-Benz enthusiast his whole life, Stan has mostly driven and worked on that particular brand. His father was a mechanical engineer who gave him early exposure and access to a garage full of tools necessary to fix cars on the driveway. That provided him a foundation to land a summer job as a young man with his local independent Mercedes repair shop. Anticipating a career in the sciences, he planned to continue working on Mercedes-Benz vehicles as a hobby and went on to earn undergraduate degrees from Boston University in Chemistry and Physics. He had completed his master's degree in Chemistry at Princeton University and was well on his way to a PhD in Physical Chemistry at Princeton when he realized that he missed working with his hands. It was at this juncture that Stan began working toward achieving his official certification and training to become a repair specialist and he's never looked back. He left Princeton and went to North Carolina to the NASCAR Technical Institute, a division of Universal Technical Institute, and enrolled in a Master Automotive program which also specializes in racing. After graduating at the top of his class at NTI and earning ASE master certification he was recruited by Mercedes of Natick who sponsored his attendance at the Mercedes ELITE Factory Training Program. Again graduating in the top of his class he was the recipient of the "Das Beste oder nichts" (the best or nothing) Award given to the top performer of the graduating class. As you can imagine, his background and inquisitive nature are a perfect fit for this business. He approaches car repair with a critical eye, years of experience and a focus on what he can do to solve an issue in the most time - and cost-effective way possible. Listening to Stan talk about the cars he loves so much and his passion for fixing them, it is truly evident he enjoys his work and that he's committed to providing his customers a very high level of service. The stylish new location has a spacious waiting area with granite counters, leather furniture, hard wood floors, internet access, high-def cable TV and custom carpets. At FMW you feel like you're getting the high-end boutique feel of the dealership with a cost saving incentive. Spring water and coffee are complimentary. A Mercedes-Benz is not your average vehicle. And so, as an owner of a Mercedes-Benz, why would you bring your car to an average repair shop? Well, you don't have to and you shouldn't. You also don't have to travel to a dealership to get the specialized level of service that your vehicle requires. It's not common to find someone at a dealership that has the credentials and experience Stan does. That is what makes Stan and Foreign MotorWorks special. Make FMW your local, one-stop shop for expert diagnosis and repair of your Mercedes-Benz.
