This winter has certainly been a tough one for even the heartiest of New Englanders! Many of us pride ourselves on our endurance of the cold and snow and all that winter can throw at us: We will persevere! I, like many of us am desperately seeking signs of Spring. Of course you see items arriving in stores, but I am looking for consistent warmer temperatures and maybe a few crocuses springing up! Come on, Spring! I want to take a moment and thank my staff and family for all of your hard work and support this past year. We accomplished a very successful and well- received redesign of South Shore Magazine from paper, to ink and design. The response from our readers and advertisers was extremely positive. A special thanks to our Art Director, Christine Dietterich, and Editor/Writer, Jen Nonenmacher, for their valiant efforts in pulling together EVERYTHING that came their way. Our entire writing and photography staff was magnificent as well. A heartfelt THANK YOU to you all! This winter season has been rough in the local business community for retailers, restaurants and business in general, with revenues down due to fewer people out and about and additional weather- related expenses. With that said, it is very important to get out to eat, shop and help our local businesses get back on track. Our cover and feature article is about the spectacular new South Shore Medical Center campus on Longwater Drive in Norwell. It is a beautifully designed and inviting building that houses the many medical services provided by this fantastic medical group. We are truly fortunate to have so many top-notch medical choices right here in our region. I would also like to bring attention to our long time client The Rug Merchant in Rockland with their magnificent, newly expanded facility. Hilary and Steve operate a great business, with the highest quality of product and service. Congrats! In this issue, we are introducing our new quarterly article, "The Beat" by Jay Psaros, in which we focus on the local music scene, musicians and venues. Also, always check out fantastic live music on our radio show, South Shore Live (8-10pm Mondays on 95.9 FM WATD) our HOUR 9 LOUNGE features live local music weekly. Lastly, we have an article which has run before in South Shore Magazine on the art of wood carving. Since this article first was published a couple of years back I have dived head first into this art form, with instruction/classes from Bill Sarni and working closely with my friend Neal George in his workshop in between classes. It has been very rewarding and relaxing! Give it a try! Cheers to Spring! P.S. In our Indian Summer issue there was an article on The Piano Mill in Rockland to which I mistakenly assigned a by-line. It should have been by Amanda Carr. Thank you.
