28 The sun is shining, it's warm outside, everything is green—it's finally summer! This is the season we have all been waiting for. If you are a Marylou's Coffee fan, summer is especially sweet. "Our coffee is great year-round," says Marylou Sandry, founder of Marylou's Coffee. "But iced coffee is our specialty, and there is no better time for iced coffee than summer." This summer, Marylou's is featuring three special flavors. In June, customers can enjoy Black Forest Cheesecake. In July, Gooey Chocolate Brownie will make your mouth water. In August, when the blueberries are at their ripest, Chocolate Covered Blueberry will be the flavor you crave. In addition to the Flavors of the Month, Marylou's has over 35 iced flavors on tap, and 8-10 hot flavors available each day. There is a wide variety of decaf flavors as well. Patrons are invited to dream up their own coffee creations for a custom experience. Marylou's takes coffee very seriously. Their beans are flavored during the roasting period, which means that they arrive at the store fresh and delicious. It also means that there is no need for flavor shots and syrups. Customers can rest easy knowing that they control any sweetener that goes into their coffee. In fact, all nutritional information is available online at Marylous.com. If you are looking for a sweet treat, there are plenty to be found. Coffee drinks range from Specialty Coffees—which often contain several flavors of coffee with mocha-to chocolaty or fruity frozen drinks. The most famous of all Marylou's extra specialty drinks is the Funky Fanabla. This chocolate and cinnamon flavored beverage was created by Keli-Jo Rowell, CEO of Marylou's. On a hot day, Marylou's frozen drinks are a fun alternative to ice cream cones –especially if you are a coffee lover! Shortly after opening her first store in Hanover in 1986, Sandry opened her second, in Braintree. She has since gone on to open 32 stores in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The most recent cafes are located in Randolph, Brockton & Newport.
