These are the days that most of us yearn for all year long, warm sunshine, the long summer days and nights chock full of outdoor activities or just chillin' at the beach, on the deck or beside the pool. Simple life is what makes summer so special. We have been hard at work here at South Shore Magazine to get the Summer 2014 edition out to you in your mailbox or digitally at www.thesouthshoremagazine. com. I am very excited about the variety and balance of this issue and thank all of the staff: writers, photographers, editor and special thanks again to our Art Director Christine Dietterich for another spectacular looking issue. 101 Kilby Street in Hingham, a spectacular Mediterranean-style home built by ABC Inc. adorns our front cover and a 3 page article. This is a spectacular new home with so many amenities situated on a beautiful lot set next to Foundry Pond in Hingham. You still summer dreaming about being out on the water? Freedom Boat Club offers a great opportunity to enjoy boating not just here on the South Shore, but all over the country. Check out their article on pages 16-17. We also have a great article about a local tech company SmartCode. Their product helps keep track of all of medical billing and coding issues, giving your physician less administrative work and more patient time to practice medicine— not spreadsheets 101! The South Shore's restaurant scene is a virtual hot spot with so many great offerings; we focus on a couple of new choices in our Great Taste section. First is The Quarry located on Rt. 53 on the Hingham/Weymouth line, The Quarry has many offerings that you won't find elsewhere and a nice twist on traditional menu items. Owners Ron Leduc and Owner/Chef Greg Jordan, have taken an existing property and transformed the location to a must-try destination. Fresh food and fresh ideas are at The Quarry. Think all drive-in restaurants are the same? Think again! Pull up to Jenna's Drive-In on Park Ave in South Weymouth for the culinary surprise of the summer. This is gourmet quality, fresh food in a super casual environment. A must try is the Mahi-mahi tacos, and the tater tots…. These are not the tater tots of your youth…they are over-the-top amazing. There are so many awesome choices you will make this a regular stop. What's better than good beer and local, live music? Not much in my opinion, we have our second installment of The Beat, featuring some of the goings on here with the local music scene. Many of the area's restaurants, pubs and music venues are the best places to sample the plethora of craft beer choices. You can also check out great live music on our radio show South Shore Live on Monday nights from 8-10pm on 95.9 FM WATD. Our HOUR 9 LOUNGE features live music in the studio from all over New England.
