make. "I don't think I should decide how you live," Michael says. In addition to new construction, Michael has been renovating properties on the North Shore for years. He recently completed a 4-bedroom condominium in Carlisle in a building originally constructed in 1782. Kristen described the project as a "labor of love" and says this venture is the perfect example of their philosophy to renovate well as opposed to doing what is easy. She explains that they chose to preserve the history and character of the building by restoring, instead of replacing, the post and beam frame, the pumpkin pine floorboards, and the nicks and scratches in the original walls. The result is four stunning units with 18-foot ceilings, original protected flooring, and the feel of the 1700s architecture. Michael and Kristen both say the job is a lot of work if they do it the right way, but, in the end, when you see it all come together it is very rewarding. And, most of all, the client should feel good about the result because the Kennys do not simply want to build you a house; they want to build you a home. 16 KENNY & KENNY / Michael and Kristen Kenny 227 Atlantic Avenue / Hull 978-697-6523 / 781-635-2826 mkckmkmjk@aol.com / www.michaeljkenny.com The Kenny's home at 61 Border Street is listed with Alice Pierce at Coldwell Banker for $1.365 million. and Kristen say this is a slightly different way of conceptualizing a home but is extremely comfortable, functional, and especially appealing to couples with older children. The key to Michael and Kristen's success is that they design and build all of their own work, thereby cutting out the middlemen. When a customer looks to build or renovate a home, he or she typically plans the project with an architect who then hires a designer and various other contractors to complete the work. By eliminating these secondary steps, the Kennys are able to give a much more efficient, accurate estimate, both monetarily and time-wise to complete the project, and they have a complete understanding of how each piece of the construction will function with the others. They do all of their plans in the field and, as Michael explains, "If you manage your own work and spend the time to be on the job, you can really control what's going on." If the client wants to make a change, Michael can rework the plans and give the client a new estimate on the spot. He also has the experience and expertise to help people decide what they want to build in order to get their desired feeling from the space. "People either know exactly what they want, or not a prayer what they want. And it's usually the latter," he explains, which is why, "Such an important part of the process is listening to what the client wants to do." Michael and Kristen both agree that they will offer advice and lay out the options so the client can make an informed decision, but it is ultimately the client's decision to Alice Pierce, Realtor, CBR, SRES Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage 339-236-0242 / Alice.Pierce@Nemoves.com Dear Hingham Neighbor, If you are considering Hingham's Hot Housing Hingham and are ready complimentary market and a top producing REALTOR expertise in preparing, Find out: • What your house is worth • How to increase your • When to come to market • Where to price your home • Who can get you the Sincerely, Alice Pierce Available to help when © 2014 Coldwell Banker Residential Act and the Equal Opportunity Act. owned by Coldwell Banker Real Estate but has not verified this information If your property is currently listed not our intention to solicit the offerings I Have Sold These ALICE PIERCE, Cell: 339-236-0242 Alice.Pierce@NEMoves.com Friend
