As many of you may know the
whiskey business is on fire…
and not necessarily from the fire
of a moonshiner! Small-batch,
handcrafted whiskeys, particularly
bourbons, have taken a segment of
the distilled spirits business from
stagnant to exponential growth. For
years "a little brown in your cup" was
the spirit of choice of your dad and
grandfather. Small batch has created
a renaissance of epic proportions
for whiskeys and bourbons. In fact
popularity is so high that there is an
actual "shortage" of quality produ
because of necessary distilling and
aging time as well as availability of
ingredients.
As a longtime bourbon lover, I was
invited by Stephen Marsh to a tasting
that was taking place for "DUKE
Kentucky Straight Bourbon," which
is named after "The Duke"… John
Wayne. Apparently Mr. Wayne was
quite the connoisseur of fine spirits
and very particular about them.
