34 As many of you may know the whiskey business is on fire… and not necessarily from the fire of a moonshiner! Small-batch, handcrafted whiskeys, particularly bourbons, have taken a segment of the distilled spirits business from stagnant to exponential growth. For years "a little brown in your cup" was the spirit of choice of your dad and grandfather. Small batch has created a renaissance of epic proportions for whiskeys and bourbons. In fact popularity is so high that there is an actual "shortage" of quality produ because of necessary distilling and aging time as well as availability of ingredients. As a longtime bourbon lover, I was invited by Stephen Marsh to a tasting that was taking place for "DUKE Kentucky Straight Bourbon," which is named after "The Duke"… John Wayne. Apparently Mr. Wayne was quite the connoisseur of fine spirits and very particular about them. John's son Ethan Wayne and his family had discovered a wooden box in the midst of his father's belongings by Stanley Blackmur
