One Offs: Brown Ale, First & Blonde and Whitman Wheat As indicated all of Old Colony's Beers are small-batch and only currently sold in Growlers on Saturdays. You need to check their website: www.oldcolonybrew.com or FB at facebook.com/ oldcolonybrew for specific dates and times. As mentioned, McGuiggan's pub in Whitman always has an Old Colony on Tap, other South Shore establishments with rotating taps are Union Brew House in Weymouth, Buddy's Pizza Pub in Middleboro, Blackthorn Publick House in Easton and Chili Head BBQ in W. Bridgewater. Plans are in the making to move to a new much larger space in Whitman later this year to expand production and have a Tap room to taste and buy the beers. Another Nano in the area still in the process of perfecting their recipes and brewing process is Tenth District Brewing in Abington. This was founded in January 2014 by Patrick Eddy and Dana George. Check out their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ tenth district brewing for updates. By the looks of the photos on their page they will be ready soon. Cheers! 43 TheSouthShoreMagazine.com peels along with a few hops that ad a nice citrus flavor to this orange colored beer. This is a true customer favorite and sells out fast, according to Dennis. Next up is their Farmhouse/Saison. This also has a 5.7% ABV, and in our discussion Dennis explained how he and his partners decided to make most of their beers for session drinking and therefore many have purposely lower ABV that some others out there. This particular beer is a Belgian Saison that they dry hop to add a nice aroma to the fruity spiciness of the Belgian Yeast. Hoppy Patriot-American IPA-6.2% ABV. I personally was able to try this particular beer and I found it to be a lighter IPA, in the same vein as Harpoon IPA. It is an easy-drinking IPA in which Old Colony uses a basic grain bill along with 5 different hops and are generously dry hopped to give it a great aroma. Seasonal Beers Include: Poolside: a summer wheat beer brewed with lemons Pumpkin Ale: an autumn beer brewed with pumpkin and spices Snow Day: A Porter brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla (this sounds fantastic!) Irish Red: Brewed for St. Patrick's Day and early spring.
