AUTUMN 2015 / STAR OF EXCELLENCE AWARD ISSUE / PUBLISHERS LETTER Hello and, greetings to you all. I can honestly say that this past summer was one of the most anticipated summers that most of us ever experienced. I think the weather gods were mighty kind to us New Englanders after the 2014-2015 winter from hell. With such anticipation comes the need to pack a lot into an unfortunately short period of time. I hope you and your families had a summer to remember. By now, the majority of our summer items are packed away in the garage, shed and basement, the pools are covered and the boats are out of the water. Fall projects are set to begin, including stacking the firewood, raking the leaves and prepping for the "W" word. We have had a great year at South Shore Magazine, as we have met lots of new people with great stories to tell about their businesses here on the South Shore. With such positive activity everywhere you travel, from small projects to large, you can feel the vibe and see the progress, from small home remodeling projects to massive undertakings, such as Southfield. In this issue, you will find a terrific variety of articles and topics for reading enjoyment for everyone in your home. Included in this issue is a large focus on family- run businesses and, even better, multi- generational family-run businesses. This is something that is a huge part of the fabric and make up of this wonderful region - the South Shore - that we all call home. The majority of our clients are locally owned and operated by two and, sometimes even three, generations of families. With that being said, it makes it that much more important to support these local businesses by purchasing and utilizing their goods and services.
