20 To be successful in any endeavor, it takes hard work, commitment and dedication. To continue to do so since 1889 requires people who truly believe in that philosophy, and who are willing to do everything in their power to ensure that they continue the legacy that has been built year after year. At Braintree Cooperative Bank, their philosophy is that it takes a team to build a community. As the local community bank, Braintree Cooperative Bank has helped to build its community over the past 126 years, continuing to earn the trust of its customers and their families, as well as the local business owners. How do they do this? They listen, they anticipate and they respond to the many needs of their clients. As times have changed, customer financial needs have also changed. Gone are the days when a simple savings account or a mortgage for a home were the only services needed by the vast majority. Many individuals have started their own businesses, have invested in real estate or in other types of investments, or are in need of several different types of savings and checking products. The Braintree Cooperative Bank recognizes that times and needs are constantly changing, and they are always looking to stay ahead of the change. One instance of this is when the bank responded to the growing need for commercial lending and commercial business products. Building on an already existing commercial lending department, the bank hired a well-seasoned commercial lender last year, Bob Corcoran, who is now heading up that division as Senior Vice President, Chief Loan Officer, Commercial. With Corcoran's guidance and years of experience and high ethical standards, the bank has had much success over a short period in this area of the business. It was a winning move for all concerned. The bank has grown and continues to provide top notch service to its clients, Corcoran is happy and the bank's clients love the change. Corcoran says, "I love the personal feel here at Braintree Cooperative Bank. This is clearly a bank that is much more in touch with its customers. It is far more community oriented. While I have only been here for one year, the transition has been extremely smooth, which has made for a great experience." At Braintree Cooperative Bank, Corcoran was brought on by the team to work with existing customers, as well as to bring in some new customers. According to some business owners with whom I had the opportunity to speak, Corcoran has been an incredible asset to an already strong team. Chris Vieira was looking for a closer relationship with his banker to assist him with growth strategy and financing of his business, Mustang Capital Partners.
