31 TheSouthShoreMagazine.com speak with the team. You feel more relaxed immediately, which can be a big issue for some children. Dr. Jolles also told me one of his favorite stories involving Dr. Kennedy, who helped comfort a young girl right before her appointment. That is the sort of practice you are choosing when you take your children to Hanover Pediatrics. "I feel that our practice is unique," said Dr. Kennedy. "It really helps that it is small, as that allows us to all have the opportunity to know all of our patients. Yet, although we are a smaller practice, we still offer coverage seven days per week." That is because Hanover Pediatrics is part of the Healthcare South family, and they cross-cover with pediatric offices in Cohasset, Scituate and Marshfield. That allows them to offer weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating schedule. Overall, Healthcare South has a total of nine practices. "Not only do the doctors know a lot about all of our patients and their families, but the front desk and nurses know just as much," says Dr. Kennedy. "We have an incredibly accommodating and loyal staff." Accommodating patients is certainly a source of pride for the doctors at Hanover Pediatrics, as it should be, given their dedication to provide the best quality care. Dr. Kennedy said that "they have great continuity and build strong relationships with their patients over the years. "This allows a great level of trust with our patients," she added. Dr. Jolles also added that they can accommodate emergency school physicals, which is crucial around this time of the year. Additionally, he stressed that if a patient calls with an illness, that they will be seen that day. They are also very accommodating for last minute sports physicals, which can keep a child from participating in a given sport until a physical has been completed. He would know, as he is the doctor for Hanover Schools. Another area that separates the doctors at Hanover Pediatrics from the rest is the "care and reassurance with the children," said Dr. Kennedy, which led to one of Dr. Jolles's favorite stories. "I had an eight-year-old patient with whom I was just finishing up his appointment," he said. "At the end of the appointment, I had to give a hernia exam, at which point the boy asked if I had a license to do that! I stopped and said 'Yes, I do have a license for that. Would you like to see it?' He said that he would, so I showed it to him. I love that our patients feel comfortable and are not afraid to question. Whatever question they ask, we will answer. We will always talk about all of the issues that surround any patient." When selecting a pediatrician for your child, you could go all the way into Boston and fight the traffic and the parking issues and all of the other inconveniences associated with traveling into the city and trying to deal with larger practices. Or, you could provide your child with the best quality care possible with the best doctors in a convenient area with ample parking.
