13 What many of their local customers don't know is that the beyond area includes customers from all over the world. Virtually every day, rebuilt and restored footwear, leather accessories and luggage is shipped to customers all the across the United States, United Kingdom, other parts of Europe, the Far East and as far away as Australia and New Zealand. Their loyal customers have come to expect and rely on their expert craftsmanship and attention to detail. Founded in 1915 by Louis LaRossa, who emigrated from Italy as a young man, and later run along with his son, William, the focus of the family business has always been on craftsmanship and developing relationships. When the family recently decided to expand their retail store in connection with the shoe operation, it had to be about the things that mattered most over the years, and the principles upon which the family business was founded. Affectionately called LOUIE in honor of Louis LaRossa, the new store was created by partnering with great brands that share their vision. The expanded two-story shop is filled with distinctive brands that have a great reputation and tell a story. "Our parents and grandparents had clothing, shoes and accessories that they treasured for decades," noted owners Bill and Gina LaRossa. "We felt that our customers would respond to and be excited by a retail environment and experience that has all but disappeared in the U.S., especially with the rapid growth of the Internet." The shop showcases unique brands that feature timeless and classic pieces and offer great value for the price. This commitment to quality can be seen in outerwear from Barbour of England (whose U.S. sales manager once called LOUIE "one of the most unique stores in the country"), Dubarry of Ireland and great U.S. companies such as Alden shoes, Randolph Eyewear and Schott leather jackets. We feel that we have created an interesting and comfortable shopping experience, where people can come in to spend time, share their passion for well-made things and just enjoy themselves. With a 101-year-old business selling and restoring shoes and leather goods, featuring three generations of families coming through their doors, LaRossa Shoe/LOUIE has customers from all over the South Shore and beyond.
