Each room now also has lifts that which make it easier for clinicians to move patients out of bed, which can speed the healing process and help reduce pressure points for patients. Dr. patel says the cutting-edge technology matches the level of care clinicians can provide. "We are now caring for a lot of patients who used to travel into Boston. The new unit is keeping up with the quality of care we provide and the complexity of the patients that we see. It's nice to have a space that endorses and supports that." CriTiCAl CommUniTy SUPPorT This new, world-class CCU belongs to the Southeastern Massachusetts community, and members of the community are stepping up to ensure that this unit and the entire Health System is poised to serve patients with the highest level of medical care for generations to come. "It's great to have a world-class community health system right in our backyard," says Bill Fallon, Senior Vice president of aSp Global, a Hingham resident and long-time donor at South Shore Hospital. "I believe people do better when they receive care closer to home and their families and loved ones can visit them and be part of the healing process." Fallon is helping South Shore Health System—which includes South Shore Hospital, South Shore Medical Center, South Shore VNa, Hospice of the South Shore, South Shore NeuroSpine, and a full spectrum of other facilities and services—with its Mission Critical campaign. as a leader in business, and as a father and husband, Fallon says he recognizes the value of supporting health care in the community. "We all need to be stewards of our community health system and part of its growth and advancement," he said. "We can't just assume it's going to flourish."
