33 TheSouthShoreMagazine.com This local fellowship is what has given WATD its longevity and continuity. With 40 years of recorded shows, news and sports in its annals, "the station is building a history for the people," says Perry. Even with so many new forms of media available since WATD's formation in 1978 - the internet, cable, Netflix, streamed shows and music - radio is still a favored medium. Part of its magic, Perry says, is that people feel like they have a part in it. "People call the disc jockey and offer an opinion, ask questions, or say, would you dedicate this to my wife? Will you play this song for my boyfriend? You can't do that on TV. Radio provides that unique opportunity." Charlie Dore says it best in her song, "Pilot of the Airwaves": Here is my request You don't have to play it But I hope you'll do your best I've been listening to your show On the radio And you seem like a friend to me "We're still having fun with it," says Perry. "And we're not for sale." 95.9 WATD | Marshfield Broadcasting Company 130 Enterprise Drive Marshfield Business Phone: 781.837.1166 David Wolfson Ed Perry
