23 community, Sue was a force of nature," says President and CEO Christopher T. S. White, Ed.D. "Perhaps her most amazing gift, however, was her capacity to see 'the whole person' and know what needed to occur in order for them to succeed." Sue has been a pivotal member of the RTR team since its 1988 inception, having worked previously with other programs which are now part of the organization. Her breadth of knowledge and dedication, as well as her compassion and demeanor, have made her the true heart and soul of RTR, and she will be greatly missed by both members and staff. "Road to Responsibility, Inc., would not be what it is today without Sue's dedication and many skills," remarks White. "It might not even exist." As the organization looks to the future, the RTR team remains diligent in its push to further the development and use of assistive technologies which support its mission to help those they serve. From simple devices like smart products which provide much needed assistance in the safe use of appliances, as well as heating, cooling and lighting, to more advanced technology aiding in communication and safety, RTR continues to find new ways to utilize resources to help people become more independent. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the organization, which has meant so much to so many people in that time. This milestone will be commemorated at their annual gala this fall – with the theme Making Lives Better. This mission-driven event will feature a cocktail reception, mobile bidding auction and dinner, and special programs highlighting RTR's impact on the individuals they support and our community. Returning as emcee for the evening will be Candy O'Terry, a popular radio broadcaster, podcaster, singer, songwriter and speaker coach, who last year delighted the more than 250 business and civic leaders, community members and friends and supporters who attended. Road to Responsibility's main office is located at 1831 Ocean Street, Marshfield. For more information, please visit roadtoresponsibility.org.
