48 www.AldousCollins.com. Let's get a shout out to Fil Pacino. Fil has recently released his debut solo album "Death by Lions," featuring a bevy of local players. Produced by Rockland's production wizard Sean McLaughlin at 37' Productions, Fil's debut solo record is a fine display of polished rock songwriting with equal moments of acoustic intimacy and outward electric grittiness. Visit Fil at www.FilPacino.com. Let's get a shout out for Hayley Sabella. As sweet as she is talented, this Plymouth based songstress has been representing the South Shore well bringing her blend of earthy indie folk to venues throughout the region. Keep an ear out for her new album and get your ears over to www.HayleySabella.bandcamp. com. Let's get a shout out for Sam Chase. Sam has recently moved to Portland, Maine but his footprint on the South Shore is undeniable. Sam is a songwriter's songwriter, carefully injecting quality lyrical and musical content into his work. Let's wish Sam the best of luck in his journey north and hope that he frequently travels back to the South Shore to entertain us. Visit www.SamChaseMusic.com to follow up with Sam. Let's get a shout out for Suzanne McNeil. Suzanne is a staple of the South Shore Music scene. Her fellow musicians love her and it's no wonder that her entourage includes some of the areas finest players. Check her out at www.SuzanneMcNeil.com. I hope you all find the time to get familiar with the work of the artists mentioned above. But let us remember, it's not only the musicians that make up a scene. Let's get some shout outs for the local haunts that have given music on the South Shore a permanent home. Let's start in Quincy, with the best little pub in the world, Paddy Barry's. Paddy's features live music 4-5 nights a week and have done a wonderful job fostering the up-and-comers of the music community. Starting in February, Paddy's will be re-booting their open mic night. Sign ups start at 8:00pm and will be held every Wednesday. Take the tour at www. PaddyBarrys.com From performers taking their first steps at an open mic, to internationally acclaimed musicians, the South Shore has a venue for every artist and audience. Let's get a shout out for The River Club Music Hall in Scituate. The River Club plays host to some of the biggest names in the music industry while keeping shows intimate and accessible. Shows are typically all ages and every seat in the house is a good one. For a complete list of upcoming performances, go to www.TheRiverClubMusicHall.com. Here on the South Shore it's easy to find live music seven nights a week. Let's get a shout out for Finna's Tavern and Jeff Hillard. Jeff and Finna's Tavern in Kingston are providing a home for musicians and music lovers alike with their Monday night open mics. Let's get a shout out for The New World Tavern in Plymouth. The New World Tavern is perhaps one of the best music clubs on the South Shore. Ticket prices run cheap, the sound is great, and the shows are always fun. Located in downtown Plymouth, The New World Tavern is a favorite destination of touring musicians looking to explore the suburbs of Boston. From great musicians to great venues, the music scene on the South Shore doesn't stop there. We are fortunate to have great radio programs that support our local scene. Let's get a shout out for Almost Famous on 95.9 WATD, where John Shea and Lisa Azizian have been nurturing the local scene for over two years now bringing the best of the regions talent directly to your ears. Let's also get a shout out for Cat Wilson of The Cheap Seat's on Cool 102 FM. Cat works hard to promote our local artists, logging each show so listeners can listen back and enjoy their favorite episodes. Of course, one must not forget Shore Shore Live on 95.9 WATD. Founded by Stan Blackmur, the creator of South Shore Magazine, South Shore Live has been promoting the best in South Shore Music for the past 5 years. Tune in every Monday to hear live and local musicians on the "Hour 9 Lounge!" Cheers to all who make the South Shore one of the best local music scenes around. I look forward to writing more about it in the next issue of South Shore Magazine. Keep listening! Hayley Sabella Sam Chase
