39 grilled sausage smothered in peppers and onions, and the savory marinated steak tips. A full range of Gifford's Ice Cream and Jenna's homemade "Jenna Cakes" are what's for dessert! Not yet 30 years old, Jenna Perette is living her dream. A graduate of Scituate High School, she said, "I've always wanted to be in the restaurant business. I've never worked anywhere else—I've done everything from dishwasher to managing." She grew up in the business, working for her parents at their restaurants, including Katmandu Café, Lord Jeffrey's, Jonathan's and The Old Salt. Her mother, Joanie Wilson, currently owns JW's Burger Bar in Scituate, where Jenna Cakes are also a menu staple. Her stepfather, Jimmy Burke, owned Riva in Scituate Harbor, among many other area restaurants, the last of which was Orta, a joint venture with Joanie. Jenna's father, Jon Perette, also owned the Varsity Club for many years, and was lured out of retirement to work on the line in his daughter's restaurant. He said he enjoys it, because it's clearly Jenna's business. "It doesn't feel like work, it's fun." He had a lot of "pent-up recipes" he wanted to share and try, like his secret fried chicken batter recipe, the barbecue and buffalo chicken sauces, and, oh yes—those tots! Homemade potato, bacon, and cheese "tater tots" are the size of small meatballs, and so addictive! They make a great quick meal on their own, or a mouth-watering appetizer. Order your meal made of fresh, local ingredients, sit outdoors at the picnic tables and wait for it to be brought out. You'll spend the entire summer trying everything on the menu at Jenna's Drive-In. Jenna's Drive-In is open Monday-Sunday 11am – 9pm. Call ahead 781-337-0823. "Like" Jenna's Drive-In on Facebook to see daily specials.
