20 Spring is a season full of transformations. The temperature rises, the flowers bloom and nature wakes up to enjoy the beautiful weather. It is the season of growth. Just like the season, Road to Responsibility continues to "Make Lives Better" for almost a thousand individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the South Shore. Each one has specific goals and needs that RTR has built services around, which will help all individuals reach their goals and continue to blossom into members of their community. OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE: To provide the means, the opportunity and the support necessary to allow people with disabilities to take their place as productive members of the community. This feeling of belonging in the community gives the confidence to those we support to live the life of their choosing -- a life filled with small personal victories that all add up to the meaningful growth on which they have been working. RTR has helped each individual by offering a home, a job, therapeutic support and a community. These are our core services, and each year we continue to use our success stories to further build our services to meet the needs of all we support. We cannot meet the needs of so many without the hard work of our dedicated staff. Most have been with us for many years and serve as great mentors to the younger generation working their way into our programs. This has helped us figure out where we can grow as an organization and continue to help each of our employees enjoy great personal growth and success. Many new employees have been working their way up and are being promoted to management level positions throughout the organization. RTR is a "Great Place to Work." A great example of this is Angela Gaudette, who is the Director of our Taunton OPTS (Opportunities for Positive Transitional Services) program. Gaudette started working at RTR in high school as a direct care employee, and a decade later she is now leading her team and serving individuals with compassion and care. When asked about her time at RTR, she said that RTR is her "road to responsibility," and it is very evident how deeply she cares for everyone in her program. Without the drive and commitment of many just like Gaudette, we could not provide the high quality person-centered care for RTR individuals in our program.
